Our Story: Emily Hickey

As you may know, Dan and I have made Autism our cause and we are both very passionate about it. Currently, we are both Officers of our Local Chapter of the Autism Society of America. We have great visions of what we can accomplish for the Autism Community in our region.

"Everybody has a Dream" . . . we dreamed we could have a Walk for Autism . . . and the first one was a great success! Now, we have a dream to open a local Autism Resource Center. Please help us accomplish this goal.

Take a look at my daughter Emily, now 12. Blonde hair, blue eyes and a beautiful smile! She's an angel. I fondly refer to her as "my perpetual two year old." It's true! Only now, she's in the body of a 12 year old. I also tell people that if life could be one eternal car ride, Emily would be so happy. She loves her car rides! However, life is often not what we wish it to be.

There's another side to Emily that people don't always see. It's the challenging and frustrating side. These challenges are what motivate and inspire Dan and me to try to improve the lives of those affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. Won't you please join us?
